From the early pioneers of a small town, Kent, to the leadership of Lillian Madison and Claude French in 1945, and continued leadership of Rick Baggett in 1985, the influence on the City of Kent School District is far and wide, not limited to the subjects of industrial arts, farming, and athletics.

Coach Baggett was a young educator for the Kent School District in 1985. The instructors in the Kent School District who came before Coach Baggett were also devout and tireless. Today, we honor the effort and results of Coach Baggett, residing in Oregon where he continued to instruct industrial arts at Clackamas College and built the Willamette Striders Track Club.

Rick Baggett has studied industrial arts and pole vaulting most of his adult life and has introduced these subjects to generations of students. Coach Baggett from the start, while first practicing his skill at Pasco High school, dedicated more hours than the average pole vaulter. His pursuit of excellence shined for the title of Washington state meet champion and meet record, which stood for 26 years.

Since his first year of coaching the results are consistent focus on pole vaulters to become champions.
